Day 1

Bethlehem & Biblical Jerusalem

 

Begin your journey in Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus, with a visit to the Church of the Nativity and the traditional site of His birth. Continue to Shepherds’ Field, recalling the Gospel account of the angels announcing the birth of Christ to the shepherds.

​

From Bethlehem, travel to Jerusalem and visit the Western Wall, one of the most significant surviving places connected with the ancient Temple complex. Continue to the City of David, the ancient heart of biblical Jerusalem. Explore Warren’s Shaft and walk through Hezekiah’s Tunnel, the remarkable ancient water system associated with King Hezekiah, before reaching the Pool of Siloam.

DAY 2

​

Nazareth & Sea of Galilee

​

Travel north to Nazareth, where you will visit the Basilica of the Annunciation, traditionally associated with the angel Gabriel’s announcement to Mary. Continue to Mount Precipice for panoramic views over Nazareth and the Jezreel Valley, recalling the Gospel account of Jesus’ rejection in His hometown.

​

Continue to the Sea of Galilee, the heart of Jesus’ ministry. Visit the Church of the Primacy of Peter (Mensa Christi), traditionally associated with Jesus’ appearance to His disciples after the Resurrection and the restoration of Peter. Continue to Capernaum, where Jesus taught and performed many miracles, followed by Magdala, associated with Mary Magdalene and home to important first-century archaeological remains.

Experience a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee, surrounded by the landscapes where Jesus taught His disciples, before continuing to the Jordan River for a time of prayer and reflection.

DAY 3

​

Mt. of Olives, Mt. Zion & Israel Museum

​

Begin at the Mount of Olives with a panoramic view over Jerusalem and the Old City. Walk down the historic hillside to Dominus Flevit, recalling Jesus weeping over Jerusalem, before continuing to Gethsemane, where Jesus prayed on the night before His arrest.

​

Continue to Mount Zion and visit the Upper Room, traditionally associated with the Last Supper and Pentecost, followed by King David’s Tomb and St. Peter in Gallicantu, recalling Peter’s denial of Jesus and the events surrounding His arrest.

​

Conclude the day at the Israel Museum, where you will see the impressive Second Temple Period Model of Jerusalem and the Shrine of the Book, home to some of the Dead Sea Scrolls.

DAY 4

Jerusalem, Qumran & Dead Sea

​

Begin the day in Jerusalem with a visit to the Church of St. Anne and the nearby Pools of Bethesda, recalling the healing of the paralytic described in the Gospel of John. Continue through the Old City along the Via Dolorosa, following part of the traditional route associated with Jesus’ journey toward the Crucifixion, before leaving through Damascus Gate.

​

Continue to the Garden Tomb, a particularly meaningful site for many Christians. Here, take time for prayer and reflection on the Crucifixion, burial and Resurrection of Jesus, and celebrate the message of the empty tomb.

​

Travel into the Judean Desert to Qumran, the archaeological site associated with the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls, before concluding your journey at the Dead Sea, with time to float in its mineral-rich waters.
