As we explore this extraordinary archaeological site, you'll discover the story of one of history's most ambitious rulers, learn how this artificial mountain became a royal palace and defensive fortress, walk through nearly 2,000-year-old underground tunnels, and visit the remains of the tomb traditionally identified as the burial place of King Herod. Leaving Herodium, we continue to Bethlehem, one of Christianity's holiest cities. Our first stop is the Shepherds' Field, where, according to Christian tradition, angels announced the birth of Jesus to the shepherds. Surrounded by the peaceful hills of Bethlehem, this sacred place offers a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the events of the Nativity. From the Shepherds' Field, we make our way to Manger Square, the vibrant heart of Bethlehem, before visiting the Church of the Nativity, one of the oldest continuously operating churches in the world and traditionally believed to mark the birthplace of Jesus Christ.
