Our tour begins at Mt. Zion, where we visit the traditional site of King David's Tomb. We then enter the Old City of Jerusalem through the historic Zion Gate and make our way to the Herodian Quarter, located in the heart of the Jewish Quarter. The Herodian Quarter features the remains of luxurious Jewish homes from the late Second Temple period, showcasing intricate frescoes, mosaics, and architectural elements that reflect the opulence of the time.
From there, we’ll walk to the iconic Western Wall, one of the most significant Jewish prayer sites, before heading up to the Dome of the Rock, where it is believed the Jewish Temple once stood.
Afterward, we return to the Western Wall, where you'll have the chance to pray and leave a prayer note in the ancient cracks of the wall, which has stood for over two millennia. We will then explore the Western Wall Tunnels where we can join the Great Bridge Route, offering a rare opportunity to explore what lies beneath the Western Wall.
Next, we continue to the City of David, one of Jerusalem's most important archaeological sites. We will venture underground once again to visit Warren's Shaft and Hezekiah's Tunnel, the ancient water conduit that once carried water to the Siloam Pool. From there, we’ll follow the Roman drainage system uphill, all the way to the Davidson Center, where you can experience how Jerusalem looked over 2,000 years ago.
The tour concludes with a visit to the Ophel, the archaeological site that once separated the Temple Mount and the City of David, followed by a walk to the Southern Steps, where you’ll get a glimpse into ancient Jerusalem’s history and enjoy great views over the southern parts of the holy city.
