From Shiloh to Jerusalem Tour Itinerary

Our journey begins with a drive north of Jerusalem along the ancient Patriarchs' Road, passing through the region of biblical Gibeah, traditionally associated with King Saul, the first king of Israel. Continuing through the biblical heartland, we also pass Bethel, one of the most significant sites of the Old Testament, where many pivotal events in Israel's early history took place.

Our first major stop is Ancient Shiloh, the first spiritual center of the Israelites after their arrival in the Promised Land. Here, the Tabernacle stood for centuries, serving as Israel's principal place of worship before Jerusalem became the nation's religious capital. As we explore the archaeological remains, we'll revisit the stories of Joshua, who divided the land among the tribes of Israel, Hannah, whose heartfelt prayer led to the birth of Samuel, and the young Samuel himself, who first heard God's voice while serving under Eli the High Priest. We'll also discuss the Ark of the Covenant and Shiloh's central role during the period of the Judges.

Returning toward Jerusalem, we continue to the City of David, the ancient core of biblical Jerusalem, where King David conquered the Jebusite stronghold and established his royal capital. Discover one of the Holy Land's most important archaeological sites while learning how Jerusalem became the political and spiritual center of ancient Israel.

Our visit includes the underground section of the City of David, where we'll explore Warren's Shaft, visit the Gihon Spring, traditionally identified as the place where Solomon was anointed king, and, weather and conditions permitting, walk through Hezekiah's Tunnel, one of the greatest engineering achievements of the ancient world, leading to the Pool of Siloam.

From there, we'll continue along the newly excavated Pilgrimage Road, the newly excavated ancient - stepped street once used by Jewish pilgrims as they ascended from the Pool of Siloam to the Temple during the Second Temple period. Walking this remarkable archaeological excavation offers a unique glimpse into Jerusalem as it appeared nearly two thousand years ago.

Our journey concludes at the Western Wall, the holiest place where Jews can pray today and the last visible remnant of the retaining walls surrounding the Second Temple. Here, we'll reflect on the remarkable journey from the Tabernacle at Shiloh to Jerusalem that became the enduring spiritual and political heart of the nation.
